Dig Out of Prison, created by Incredi.Games, is a casual escape puzzle game that is mainly about digging and avoiding detection to escape the jail. Starting inside a prison cell, the gameplay revolves around this loop: digging underground tunnels, finding & collecting items, selling them to the guard, buying upgrades, and escaping without being caught.
Taking on the role of an innocent man in jail trying to escape confinement, players tunnel their way to freedom using a spoon and other tools/resources. Always stay hidden from guards, and don’t let them know what you are doing.
Use a spoon as your basic digging tool to dig downward or sideways from your cell floor or walls. Let’s open the carpet and dig out! Each dig removes blocks like dirt or stone; be sure to clean them all before the guard appears. It’s worth noting that digging consumes energy, and when energy runs out, you must rest or buy food.
As you dig, you’ll find a bunch of collectibles, like soap, rubber ducks, phones, alarm clocks, etc. Grab them and then sell these collected items to the guard for toilet paper rolls, which act as the in-game currency. With toilet paper rolls, you can use them to buy upgrades from other prisoners for digging faster and climbing the tunnels quicker, for example.
Guards regularly check cells, except on nights. Keep an eye on the warnings, stop digging during inspections, and be sure to keep your cell clean to avoid suspicion. Getting caught can reset progress or end the run in Dig Out of Prison.
